England & GB football captain, Jamie Clarke, explains why his deafness is an advantage on the pitch.

Inspired by his grandfather’s love for football, Jamie Clarke has always had a passion for the sport and has never let his lack of hearing hold him back, despite being frequently underestimated by others.

As well as representing his country in Deaf Football, Jamie also plays in a mixed team with hearing players.

He’s faced abuse on the pitch, but has learnt to take it all in his stride, saying that his deafness has actually become an “advantage” for him on the pitch and enhanced his vision in comparison to hearing players.

Not only has Jamie Clarke represented Great Britain and England, he’s played at the Deaf World Cup and Deaflympics. Jamie is a living, breathing example that we can be United By Ambition.
