Talkspace is an online therapy platform that offers therapy for individuals and couples. For couples therapy, each partner gets a separate login but a shared messaging room for communicating with their couples therapist. If you’re considering divorce but don’t want to share the correspondence between you and your therapist with your partner, you can instead choose one of its individual plans. Talkspace shares that individual therapy allows you to vent and share your emotions without worrying about reciprocating care for the other person’s feelings.
Talkspace offers one couples therapy plan and three types of individual therapy plans. Its couples therapy plan allows you and your partner to meet with a therapist together on a weekly basis for live video therapy sessions that last 30 minutes each. You can send an unlimited number of text, audio, and video messages to your therapist, who will respond daily, five days a week. If you choose individual therapy instead, you have three options:
- Messaging Therapy Includes unlimited messaging only, no live sessions
- Video Plus Messaging Therapy Includes unlimited messaging and four live 30-minute therapy sessions per month
- Video Plus Messaging Plus Workshops Includes unlimited messaging, four live 30-minute therapy sessions per month, and interactive group workshops

Group workshops last 60 minutes and are held Mondays through Thursdays at scheduled times. They’re specifically designed to help people navigate specific topics, such as communication, empathy building, anxiety, depression, work stress, and parenting. Talkspace hosts five to six live workshops per week, during which the therapist who’s leading the session answers anonymous questions from the group and personally follows up with participants afterward. Talkspace workshops are recorded, so you can access them on-demand if you can’t attend one live.

Workshops are only included in the Video Plus Messaging Plus Workshops plan, which costs $109 per week. Although some workshops are labeled as “couples,” subscribers to the couples therapy plan don’t have access to workshops.
Individuals using Talkspace have the ability to message their therapists through the platform. Your therapist will respond at least once a day, five days a week when they are active on the platform. This feature can be helpful for getting asynchronous support in between live sessions.
Talkspace has licensed therapists in every state. You may be able to use your insurance for Talkspace couples therapy if the reason for seeking therapy is due to a diagnosed mental health condition.
