Bodybuilding pro, Lubomba Munkuli, is pretty well-known in the fitness world for his insane training sessions and eye-watering heavy lifts. But can he handle cardio?
We wanted to put his cardio fitness to the test with a watt bike challenge to work out his VO2 max — which is the measurement of the maximum amount of oxygen a person can use during intense exercise. It’s commonly used to measure the aerobic endurance of an athlete.
We used the following calculation to work out his VO2 max after a 6-minute watt bike challenge:
Relative VO2 Max = [(10.8 x W)/M] + 7
W = watt reading
M = cyclist weight in kg
The 6-minute watt bike challenge was split into 3 intervals:
0-2 minutes: light exertion (6/10 effort)
2-4 minutes: medium exertion (8/10 effort)
4-6 minutes: high exertion (10/10 effort)
After these 6 minutes, the watt reading from the bike was taken and used in the formula above.
Watch the video to find out Lubomba’s score (and witness the aftermath of those intense 6 minutes).
